Sr Payroll Tax Analyst
The Sr Payroll Tax Analyst provides operational/service leadership and direction to team(s). Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge through provision of value-added perspectives or advisory services. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Generally has responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness of end results. Work affects an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.
Responsibilities:
• Prepares manual pay calculations and reworks.
• Resolves and respond directly to employee inquiries and transactions regarding pay and benefits
• Knowledgeable with employee payroll tax calculations.
• Knowledgeable with payroll reconciliation, year-end balancing and W2s.
• Experience filing multi-state payroll tax returns for Federal, State and Local tax authorities as well as Canada. (Including W-2s, RL-1s and T-4s)
• Interacts with the department and senior management regarding performance of assigned area(s).
• Manages the documentation of policies and procedures.
• Assesses and monitors reasonableness of data and identifies discrepancies, as well as performs analysis of complex issues.
• Processes assigned tickets meeting the Service Level Agreement requirements.
• Works within established deadlines and schedules.
• Works with other team members on established projects and initiatives.
• Performs more complex tasks in support of the team manager and area projects as assigned.
• Reviews work of more junior payroll specialists.
• Coaches and trains more junior payroll specialists.
• Works under little to no direct supervision and supports an expansive and/or diverse array of products/services
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Banking, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
• In depth knowledge of employee payroll taxation calculations
• Multistate Payroll Tax filings.
• Working knowledge of country tax and income deductions and regulations
• Excellent Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• 5-8 years of experience in a related role
